Services Sector Including Tourism Contributes Rp41 Trillion to Q1 2025 Investment
Jakarta — Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu stated that the services sector, including tourism, contributed Rp41 trillion to Q1 2025 investment figures. According to Todotua, the broader services sector was the fourth-largest contributor to investment realisation during the period.
Overall, total investment realisation in Q1 2025 was recorded at Rp465.2 trillion, or 24.4 per cent of this year's target of Rp1,905 trillion.
"Indonesia's investment realisation data for the first quarter of this year shows achievement of Rp465.2 trillion, or 24.4 per cent of the President's target. The broader services sector was the fourth-largest contributor, which includes tourism," said Todotua during the inauguration of the Westin Nirup Island Resort and Spa on Nirup Island, Batam, as quoted from a written statement on Thursday (5 June 2025).
On the same occasion, Todotua noted that the Riau Islands province demonstrates significant potential as an investment destination. Investment realisation in the region was recorded at Rp148.65 trillion during the 2020–2024 period. Batam was the largest contributor, accounting for 61.99 per cent of the province's total investment, equivalent to Rp92.15 trillion.
He noted that whilst the technology industry sector remains dominant, growth opportunities in the tourism sector in the region are substantial.
Todotua conveyed the government's commitment to supporting investment in the tourism sector, in line with long-term capital investment policy direction.
"We are fully confident that the Westin Nirup Island Resort and Spa will bring a new concept of integrated tourism, particularly in Batam, and furthermore will attract more investment in the Riau Islands and across Indonesia," he said.
The Westin Nirup Island Resort and Spa is part of an investment by PT Tritunas Sinar Benua, a domestic investment (PMDN) company located on Nirup Island, Sekanak Raya, Belakang Padang, Batam. According to its investment activity report (LKPM), the company's total planned investment reaches Rp240.13 billion, with realisation of Rp7.68 billion as of Q1 2025.
