Servicemen nabbed in Lampung
BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: A corporal troop and a civil servant
at the local military police office are undergoing an intensive
investigation for their alleged involvement in the smuggling of
three tons of marijuana in Tanggamus regency in the province.
"We will soon hand over them to the Military Police office in
Lampung," Lampung Police Chief Brig. Gen. Sugiri said here on
Monday.
The two officials were among the eight people arrested on
Sunday night for attempting to smuggle three tons of marijuana
valued at about Rp 6 billion, he said.
He said the suspects tried to smuggle the illegal leafs from
restive Aceh province to Java island by truck. Sugiri could not
speculate whether the smuggling involved separatist rebels in
Aceh. --Antara
