The 2026 Hajj organisation has received appreciation following significant improvements over previous years, according Muhammad Sarmuji, chairman of the Golkar faction in the Indonesian House of Parliament ( DPR RI). Sarmuji performed the Hajj in 2026 as an ordinary citizen while inspecting Indonesian pilgrim sectors in the holy land.

In 2023, Sarmuji served as a member of the DPR’s Hajj oversight team and witnessed numerous issues including food, accommodation, and transport. Upon returning this year in a different capacity, he observed encouraging changes.

‘In 2023, I was a member of the Haj oversight team and encountered many problems with food, accommodation, and transport. This year, as an ordinary pilgrim, I visited several Indonesian sectors. Alhamdulillah, there has been a significant improvement in services,’ Sarmuji said, citing Antara.

During his visits to three Indonesian pilgrim sectors, Sarmuji directly questioned pilgrims about their service experiences. No significant complaints were reported. Furthermore, the main rituals at Arafat, Muzdalifa, and MINA were relatively smooth and controlled.

‘I asked pilgrims in three sectors. On average, there were no significant issues with this year’s Haj organisation. Similarly, the Arafat, Muzdalifa, and MINA rituals were relatively smooth and managed,’ he added.

Golkar’s secretary general also praised the Hajj staff for being more disciplined and professional compared to previous years.

‘Hajj staff are more disciplined this year than in recent years. They performed their duties well,’ Sarmuji said.

The East Java legislator expressed sincere appreciation to the government, particularly the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, for their persistent efforts to improve services annually. He stated that the tangible improvements experienced by pilgrims demonstrate the government’s seriousness in providing the best service for Indonesia’s ‘guests of Allah’.

‘Since I attended as an ordinary pilgrim, not as an overseer, I could genuinely feel what the pilgrims experience. I observed much better service. This is a achievement we must honestly acknowledge; the Ministry of Hajj has worked hard and the results are evident,’ he concluded.
