Jakarta - The Chinese automaker Changan has finally planted its flag in the Indonesian market. This move is being made through a strategic partnership with Indomobil Group, which is projected to serve as the main gateway for Changan’s expansion in the Southeast Asia region.

This collaboration represents an important milestone for Changan in implementing its global plan titled “Vast Ocean Plan”. The main focus of this partnership encompasses the entire automotive industry value chain, from production, supply, sales, to operations, aligned with the roadmap for the development of the automotive industry in Indonesia.

In the next three years, Changan has prepared an aggressive strategy by expanding its product line. Not only battery electric vehicles (BEVs), the company also plans to introduce Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), and Range Extender Electric Vehicle (REEV) models.

Globally, Changan will bring three main brands, namely Changan, Deepal, and Avatr. Regarding the models to be launched, this Chinese manufacturer already has plans up to 2030.

As proof of its seriousness in tapping the local market, Changan plans to strengthen its research and development (R&D) aspects. In 2027, the company targets the establishment of an Asia Pacific R&D Centre to ensure more localised product development that meets the needs of domestic consumers.

This localisation commitment also extends to the employment sector. Changan targets the creation of more than a thousand local jobs in the next three years. This step is supported by efforts to build local entities as well as the development of an efficient supply chain in the ASEAN region.

For its sales strategy, Changan will adopt a “one country, one strategy” approach. Their short-term focus will target major cities on Java, Sumatra, and Kalimantan islands.

The development of a dealer network will implement the 3S concept (Sales, Service, Spare parts) as well as City Stores in main business areas. In 2026, Changan targets operations of more than 20 showrooms. Its long-term target is to build 100 showrooms across Indonesia, which is part of the target of 755 showrooms across Southeast Asia by 2030.

In line with this expansion, after-sales service becomes a top priority. Changan introduces a user service brand titled “with U” to ensure efficiency and care for consumers in Indonesia.

Through synergy with Indomobil Group, Changan is committed to delivering high-quality products and efficient operations. This step is expected not only to benefit both parties but also to contribute to the creation of a greener, smarter, and more sustainable automotive ecosystem in Indonesia.
