Series of Violations Found in the National Internship Programme
The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) has compiled several complaints regarding violations in the implementation of the national internship programme. Various issues gathered include those related to working hours and mismatches in interns’ competencies. These findings are based on complaints from interns and the public. “We are following up on that. Several companies have been reprimanded, and then we blacklisted them,” said Minister of Manpower Yassierli after a meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy’s office in Jakarta on Thursday, 23 April 2026. According to him, the most common problems concern mechanisms, such as setting working hours that are not suitable for interns who are trainee workers. Next is the scope of work. Yassierli gave an example: initially, interns were placed in a company according to their competencies as S1 graduates and the company’s needs. “But the work turned out to be more like a receptionist, and so on,” he said. Following this evaluation, Kemnaker will create stricter mechanisms for the next programme. This way, participating companies will have better responsibilities. Kemnaker has reminded participants, company operators, and mentors that the National Internship Programme Batch I must complete all final stages according to the schedule. The programme has been running for six months and will end on 19 April 2026 for Batch 1A and 23 April 2026 for Batch 1B. The closing of the National Internship Programme Batch I will take place on 24 April 2026. Kemnaker also reminds participants not to miss the important value of their experience. Internship experiences need to be well documented in CVs or portfolios, so they truly become an added value when participants apply for jobs. Besides participants, company operators also have mandatory responsibilities to prepare internship certificates on the maganghub.kemnaker.go.id menu, including inputting the company logo, participant’s name, and the director’s electronic signature. Operators must also fill in competency certification reports, placement or recruitment reports if any, and mandatory questionnaires. During the same period, mentors are required to approve participants’ attendance and daily reports, approve monthly reports, provide monthly and final grades for participants, fill in mentor questionnaires, and submit participants’ pocket money after all questionnaires are submitted.
