A series of new facts has emerged in the murder case of Kitin Yoga Tama Rustamaji (KYR), a member of the Joxzin Organisation in Bantul. Two suspects, both friends of the victim, have been identified as SS alias Cobro (29) and FS (22). Notably, one of the suspects even visited the victim’s home to pay respects after the incident. Below are the key details in this murder case.

Victim and Suspects Drinking Together

Before the incident, the victim and the suspects had gathered for an alcoholic drinking session at the victim’s residence in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul.

“So SS, FS, and the victim, a total of eight people, gathered at KYR’s house starting from 20:00 (24 February) until Wednesday (25 February) at 04:00. They drank alcohol there,” said Bantul Police Chief AKBP Bayu Puji Hariyanto at Bantul Police Station on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

Triggered by a “Self-Righteous” Remark

Hariyanto explained that during the drinking session, a conversation took place that the suspect felt was offensive, triggering his emotions.

“The eight people gathered and there was conversation that SS considered hurtful, namely ‘if you think you’re so pious, don’t be here’ (Javanese colloquialism),” he said.

Feeling insulted, Cobro then invited FS to leave the victim’s house on Wednesday around 04:00. It turned out that Cobro invited FS to retrieve a machete from his house in Gamping, Sleman.

“Then at 05:00, SS returned to KYR’s house through the back door and found KYR asleep together with his child and wife,” explained Bayu.

The other companions who had previously gathered at the victim’s house had already returned to their respective homes.

“Then SS slashed with the machete three times: the first blow hit the left side of the face, the second blow struck the abdomen and also hit the finger of KYR’s wife, and the third blow hit the right thigh of KYR, which resulted in KYR’s death,” said Bayu.

Victim and Suspect Were Close Friends

Bayu also disclosed that Cobro (29) was a close friend of the victim.

“So the person who committed the machete attack, SS, had a close relationship with KYR through friendship,” said Bayu.

“This included a debt of 400,000 rupiah, but it had already been settled,” he added.

Bayu also mentioned that the victim, KYR, had previous run-ins with the law.

“The person in question (the victim) is a repeat offender, whereas the perpetrator is not a repeat offender,” he concluded.

Suspect Attended the Wake

After the incident, suspect Cobro attended the wake at the victim’s house in Kaliurang, Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul. The suspect even helped manage emotions amongst the victim’s associates.

“So indeed after the incident, the person in question came to pay respects,” said Bayu.

The victim’s wife even asked Cobro for help at the house of mourning.

“The person in question (Cobro) was asked by KYR’s wife to help receive visitors at the house of mourning,” said Bayu.

Cobro is also said to have helped calm down one of the victim’s associates at the house of mourning. The associate who was emotional was one of the eight people who had been drinking at KYR’s house on Tuesday (24 February) evening.

“There (at the house of mourning), the person in question even helped calm one of the victim’s associates to prevent him from becoming emotional,” said Bayu.

Facing Death Penalty

Both suspects, Cobro (29) and FS (22), face potential death sentences, life imprisonment, or maximum imprisonment of 20 years. The first suspect, SS alias Cobro (29), is the executor. The second suspect, FS (22), played a role in transporting SS. Both are residents of Kapanewon Gamping, Sleman.

“FS was designated as a suspect as of yesterday (Tuesday),” said Bayu.

FS and SS are currently being detained at Bantul Police Station. Both are currently undergoing further investigation.

“We have detained both suspects,” he said.

For his actions, SS is charged with Article 459 subsidiary 458 paragraph 1 of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. The charges relate to criminal acts of any person who with premeditation takes the life of another person, charged as premeditated murder, or subsidiary to any person who takes the life of another person.

Meanwhile, FS is charged with Article 459 subsidiary 458 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

“Both face the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum of 20 years’ imprisonment,” Bayu stated firmly.
