The Regency Government, through the Thousand Islands Water Resources (SDA) Sub-department, has cleaned the manhole (access hole) of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL) in RT 05/02, Harapan Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands District, to ensure waste management runs optimally.

“This activity is part of IPAL network maintenance to maintain smooth flow, optimise infrastructure function, and prevent disruptions to the wastewater management system,” said Heriyanto, Head of the Clean Water and Waste Section of the Thousand Islands SDA Sub-department, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He said the cleaning was carried out by removing dirt, sediment, and materials that could potentially obstruct the flow in the IPAL network.

According to him, cleaning the manhole is part of network maintenance to ensure wastewater flow remains smooth and the IPAL system can function optimally.

Network maintenance is carried out by eight personnel on a regular basis as a preventive measure against potential blockages and other disruptions that could affect the performance of the IPAL system.

Meanwhile, the Harapan Island Urban Village Head assessed that IPAL network maintenance is important to support the cleanliness and comfort of the residential environment.

“We appreciate this IPAL network maintenance. Well-maintained infrastructure can certainly prevent disruptions while supporting the cleanliness of the community environment,” he said.

He also urged residents to help maintain the IPAL network by not disposing of rubbish or materials that could cause blockages in the channels.

“We invite the community to jointly maintain the IPAL facilities so that they can function properly and their benefits can be enjoyed sustainably,” he said.
