Seribu Islands Regent Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan has urged the younger generation in the island regency to fill independence with continued creativity and outstanding achievement through innovation and sportsmanship across various fields.

“The struggle for independence in this era has taken on an expanded meaning, namely how the younger generation possesses a fighting spirit to produce their best work through creativity and sportsmanship,” said Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan during the 81st Independence Day commemoration on Pramuka Island on Monday.

According to him, the holding of the Seribu Islands Festival following the Independence Day ceremony serves as a platform for the community, particularly the younger generation, to celebrate independence while showcasing their potential.

He expressed appreciation for the courage of six groups that performed representing their respective areas in the festival series.

“I am proud of the courage of the six groups representing their respective areas. Each participant has potential and brings pride to the Seribu Islands,” he said.

He advised all participants to treat the competition results as experience and motivation to continue training and developing their abilities.

“Whatever the outcome, make this experience a process for continued training and growth. Keep creating and be brave to perform, because the young people of the Seribu Islands have extraordinary potential,” he said.

He invited the community to enjoy the entire series of activities with joy while maintaining order and cleanliness.

“Let the spirit of independence serve as an impetus to continue creating and giving the best for our region,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pramuka Island resident Novi Indriyani (45) said she was pleased to take part in the festivities of the 81st Independence Day celebration in her area.

“The atmosphere is very lively and the community is enthusiastic about participating in the activities. Besides entertainment, events like this also make residents more united and give young people space to perform and showcase their talents,” she said.

Earlier, the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia was held on Pramuka Island, North Seribu Islands, on Monday.

During the event, various activities were held to foster a spirit of nationalism while strengthening community togetherness.

The festivities included the cutting of a tumpeng, a pencak silat performance, the Seribu Islands Festival 2026, a jetski independence parade, performances by band competition winners, and entertainment from guest stars.
