Seribu Islands Regency Government Encourages Region to Become Al-Quran Centre

The Seribu Islands Regency government is encouraging the island region in DKI Jakarta Province to become an Al-Quran centre capable of producing Quranic cadres. “The Seribu Islands can become an Al-Quran centre that serves as a platform for producing Quranic cadres, especially on Untung Jawa Island,” said Seribu Islands Deputy Regent Aceng Zaeni during the send-off of 21 participants from the Seribu Islands Regency for the provincial-level MTQ competition in Jakarta on Wednesday. He stated that the number of participants performing at the DKI Jakarta provincial MTQ stage proves that many young Quran reciters are emerging from the island region to showcase their skills at the provincial level. This situation, he said, presents an opportunity for young reciters to be guided and educated, so that the best Quran recitation cadres continue to emerge, while simultaneously establishing the Seribu Islands as an Al-Quran centre. “We support a platform for the younger generation to develop their potential into the best Quran recitation cadres,” Aceng said. The MTQ competition at the DKI Jakarta provincial level, competing for the 2026 Governor’s Cup, is being held from 29 July to 5 August at the DKI Jakarta City Hall. “The implementation of the Governor’s Cup MTQ at the provincial level is an initial step towards producing Quranic cadres in the Seribu Islands Regency in the future,” Aceng revealed.
