Seribu Islands Government Educates Students on Drug Prevention
The Seribu Islands Regency Government is educating students at SMPN 133 Jakarta on Pramuka Island, Panggang Island Village, North Seribu Islands District, as an effort to prevent the circulation and eradicate drugs. “Teenagers are a national asset who will become future leaders,” said Nurdin, Head of the Legal Subdivision of the Seribu Islands Administrative Regency, in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to him, it is a shared responsibility to equip students with correct knowledge from an early age. In addition to drug eradication, the government also educated students about reproductive health and the prevention of sexual violence against children. He stated that drug abuse among students is a serious threat because it not only impacts physical and mental health but can also ruin the future of the younger generation and cause detrimental social effects. He added that mental unpreparedness and parenting issues can lead to stunting and malnutrition. He hopes that through this activity, students can understand the risks of drug abuse and have the resilience to reject all forms of it. “We also held a similar activity at SMAN 69 Jakarta, Pramuka Island, with a total of 60 students participating,” he said. Meanwhile, the Head of SMPN 133 Jakarta, Edi Sumardi, assessed that this activity provides great benefits for the students. “This is a rare opportunity. You will receive counselling on reproductive health, especially for female students, as well as legal counselling including issues on bullying and other matters,” he said.
