Serene Eid al-Adha Prayers Amidst Mountain and Sea Views in Larantuka

Thousands of Muslims performed Eid al-Adha prayers on 10 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH/2026 at Larantuka Sea Port, Herman Fernandez Street, Lokea Village, Latantuka District, on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. The morning prayer session presented an exotic sight against the backdrop of the sea and Mount Ile Mandiri. The thousands of worshippers came from four mosques: Syuhada Ekasapta Grand Mosque, As-Somad Postoh Mosque, Al-Amin Weri Mosque, and Al Mijahidin Batu Ata Mosque. The Eid al-Adha prayers were conducted with solemnity. The chairman of the East Solor MUI, Ustadz Misbah Suban Wotan, emphasised in his sermon that Eid al-Adha is a reflection of Prophet Ismail’s sacrifice as commanded by Allah. Suban stated that the act of sacrifice symbolises relinquishing excessive attachment to material possessions. “What must be sacrificed is ownership, the excessive sense of possession. Ismail could be your wealth, your position, your luxuries,” Suban Wotan told approximately 5,000 congregants. He added that sacrifice also means using wealth and positions for the benefit of the Muslim community and all humanity. “Keep striving, and be prepared to sacrifice. There is no struggle without sacrifice,” said the East Flores native preacher. “Our leaders are fighters; they must have determination. Strive for the progress of East Flores and all communities,” he concluded.
