Serang Regency Sacrifices 1,000 Goats, Distributes 9,163 Packages
Serang Regency Government, in collaboration with PT Kurma Adzwa Farm (KAF), has slaughtered 1,000 goats at Bai Mahdi Ma’mun Islamic boarding school in Pabuaran, Serang Regency, Banten Province, on Thursday, 28 May. The sacrificial meat will be distributed in 9,163 packages to residents across 29 subdistricts.
Serang Regency Head Ratu Rachmatuzakiyah said, “God willing, the meat will be distributed to genuinely needy recipients nationwide. I apologise if any mustahik are not reached”
PT KAF works with the Ministry of Villages (Kemendes) to conduct the 1,000-goat sacrifice simultaneously, marking Indonesia’s first such pilot project. “This is Indonesia’s first pilot project for slaughtering 1,00 sheep at once,” she added.
The regency plans to develop thematic villages with PT KAF to enhance local economies, including sheep, buffalo, and cattle villages. “We will establish many thematic villages, such as sheep villages, buffalo villages, and cattle villages. Please pray for us,” said the regency head.
Minister Yandri Susanto of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration confirmed all animals were healthy and suitable for consumption. Distribution will be managed by village governments, with veterinary oversight to ensure meat safety and accurate targeting of beneficiaries.
“Veterinary surgeons will verify the meat is safe for consumption, while village governments ensure recipients are correctly identified,” Minister Yandri stated.
He highlighted existing thematic villages across Indonesia, including egg-producing, meat chicken, tilapia, catfish, fruit, corn, and rice villages. The Ministry of Villages aims to establish livestock villages for sacrificial animal production, given high demand for meat in sacrifices, satay, rendang, and other purposes.
“This presents opportunities for villages, and we are grateful to have assistance for those wanting toestablish livestock villages, such as sheep, cattle, or buffalo,” he added.
