Serang (ANTARA) - The Serang Regency Government (Pemkab) in Banten has collaborated with PT Kurma Azlofang (KAF) to carry out the simultaneous slaughtering of 1,000 sacrificial animals, targeting low-income residents in the area.

Regent Ratu Rachmatuzakiyah in Serang on Friday stated that the collaboration represents the local government’s commitment to improving residents’ welfare, while also pioneering large-scale cooperation between the regional government and philanthropic institutions.

She explained that each sub-district in Serang Regency will receive a quota of around 500 recipients, with a total target of 22,500 beneficiaries. The Regent emphasised that all sacrificial meat will be distributed free of charge to eligible community members.

The Regent assured that the slaughtering process will be conducted professionally, hygienically, and in accordance with Islamic Sharia, including the use of food-safe plastic packaging. This collaboration is planned to continue sustainably for the next five years.

Meanwhile, the owner of PT Kurma Azlofang, Iksan David Wijaya, explained that the partnership extends beyond just slaughtering sheep, aiming to revitalise the agricultural and livestock ecosystem in Serang Regency.

“Hopefully, this will lead to self-sufficient fertiliser and the development of organic farming. The benefits will be generated in Serang Regency, carried out by Serang Regency, and returned to the community,” said Iksan.

He guaranteed that the quality of the sacrificial animals provided has undergone strict supervision from the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health (PKH) through the Cinagara Regional Office.

“The animals are directly monitored by the ministry to ensure health from a medical perspective as well as compliance with Sharia requirements, such as sufficient age,” he added.

Iksan, who is also active in the Independent Rural Agriculture and Farming Training Centre (P4S), stated that his side is committed to continuously providing education and training to village communities to strengthen food sector self-reliance in Serang Regency.
