The Criminal Investigation Unit of Cikande Police Sector, Serang District Police, has apprehended two men with initials SMR (25) and SN (24), perpetrators of motor vehicle theft. Both are street singers who marketed the stolen goods via WhatsApp status updates. “We have successfully secured two suspected perpetrators who work as street singers. Their modus operandi involves offering stolen motorbikes through social media and inviting meetings at specific points for transactions,” stated Serang Police Chief AKBP Andri Kurniawan on Tuesday (14/4/2026). The arrests were made after police grew suspicious during a cyber patrol on social media. Officers discovered the perpetrators’ activities offering a Honda Beat motorbike via WhatsApp status with a cash-on-delivery (COD) system. Upon arrival at the site, officers secured both perpetrators along with several pieces of evidence, namely one red Honda Beat motorbike without a licence plate that was to be sold and one Suzuki RC100 motorbike. “Officers also seized a T-key and four mobile phones from the two perpetrators,” explained the Police Chief, accompanied by Cikande Police Sector Chief AKP Tatang. Following further investigation, it was revealed that the Honda Beat motorbike matched the vehicle reported missing in Rengas Tengah Hamlet, Karyasari Village, Cikedal Subdistrict, Pandeglang, on Tuesday at dawn around 04:30 WIB. Furthermore, the Police Chief added that they had coordinated with Pandeglang District Police given that the locus delicti of the crime is in Pandeglang’s jurisdiction. “Since the police report (LP) regarding this theft is registered at Cikedal Police Sector, Pandeglang District Police, the two perpetrators along with the evidence have been handed over to the investigators of Pandeglang District Police for further prosecution,” he said.
