Sequence of Febrie's Suspect Designation: Named by Kortas Tipikor, Transferred to the AGO
Former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah has been named a suspect. The Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) designated Febrie a suspect in connection with three corruption cases, namely corruption related to coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel. The case, which has drawn significant public attention, escalated from a search of a café and a house owned by Febrie, culminating in his suspect designation. The case has now been transferred by the police to the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung).
Kortas Tipikor Chief, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, stated that the investigation into these cases was handled jointly through a joint investigation scheme with the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police. They conducted a series of searches related to the three alleged corruption cases. Police searched a money changer and Cafe de’Clan Signature in the Cipete area, South Jakarta, as well as a house owned by Febrie in Sentul, Bogor, West Java. Police also seized a number of pieces of evidence during the search process, ranging from gold bars to foreign currency worth billions of rupiah.
Febrie Adriansyah resigned from his position as Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office in the early hours of Saturday, 11 July. Attorney General ST Burhanuddin accepted Febrie Adriansyah’s resignation. The Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated that the decision was a form of commitment to maintaining the integrity, objectivity, and neutrality of the law enforcement process, in line with the ongoing legal process being conducted by investigators of the Indonesian National Police. Attorney General ST Burhanuddin subsequently appointed Rudi Margono as Acting Jampidsus.
On Saturday afternoon, Margono confirmed that two suspects had been named, one from the private sector and one with the initial F. The individual with the initial DR is currently being held at the Metro Jaya Regional Police detention centre. The three alleged corruption cases previously handled by the Police’s Kortas Tipikor and the Metro Jaya Regional Police have been transferred to the Attorney General’s Office. The transfer was carried out as an effort to accelerate the resolution of the cases while strengthening synergy between law enforcement agencies. Margono stated that the public is waiting for the resolution of these cases, making the acceleration of handling a primary focus. He added that despite the transfer, coordination with the Police’s Kortas Tipikor would continue to ensure certainty in the resolution. Inspector General Totok Suharyanto noted that before the transfer, police investigators had examined 15 witnesses and two experts, and had conducted searches at several locations as part of the investigation process.
