Sequence of Events: Brunei National's Fatal Altercation with Woodyrman
Celebrity influencer Mohamad Irman Ali, 33, known as Woodyrman, assaulted a 30-year-old Brunei national identified as MHF, resulting in his death in Blok M, South Jakarta. The incident began with a quarrel between the victim and Woodyrman.
The assault occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, 6 May, in Blok M, South Jakarta. It began with a misunderstanding between Woodyrman and a witness, which drew in the victim.
“The victim attempted to defend the witness, leading to a verbal altercation between him and the suspect,” said Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief of Public Relations Commissioner Budi Hermanto when contacted by reporters on Thursday, 28 May 2026.
Voice Note Challenging Woodyrman to Fight
“Prior to the incident, the victim sent a voice message challenging Woodyrman to a fight. When the victim and suspect met at the scene, tensions escalated further,” he added.
Verbal Clash and Alcohol Influence
A verbal clash ensued between the victim and Woodyrman at the scene. The situation spiralled out of control as the suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
“Investigations revealed the suspect was allegedly under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
Victim Struck with Paper Bag Containing Bottle
In a fit of rage, Woodyrman struck the victim once on the head with his right hand, which was holding a paper bag containing a drink bottle.
“As a result of the blow, the victim fell at the scene, received medical treatment, and was later declared dead,” he added.
Motivation for Assault
Preliminary investigations suggest the assault was motivated by anger following the quarrel with the victim.
“Based on preliminary findings, the assault is believed to have been driven by the suspect’s loss of temper,” he explained.
Woodyrman Named Suspect
Police arrested Mohamad Irman Ali, known as Woodyrman, on Monday, 25 March, in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. He has been formally charged and is currently detained at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police detention facility.
Woodyrman faces charges under Article 466 paragraph 3 and/or Article 468 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).
“He has been named a suspect and is detained,” said Detective Chief Inspector Dimitri Mahendra of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Mobile Unit Sub-Directorate, when contacted by Detikcom on Wednesday, 27 May.
