Sentiong Riverbank Redevelopment in Paseban Resumes After Multi-Year Hiatus
Paseban Village, Senen District, Central Jakarta, has resumed the redevelopment of the area along the banks of the Sentiong River, Jalan Kramat Lontar XIV Buntu RW 01, after the project had been halted for several years.
The Head of Paseban Village, Citra Arum Purdiarini, stated that the redevelopment involves creating green parks and installing fencing on parts of the riverbank land to improve the environmental conditions of the area.
“Parts of the land along the Sentiong River are being transformed into green park areas, and fencing is being installed around the perimeter,” Citra said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
Citra explained that the Central Jakarta Environmental Agency (Sudin LH) is also conducting renovations on the temporary waste disposal site (TPS) at the location.
The park construction and waste site renovations commenced last week.
She detailed that the park construction is targeted for completion within approximately one month, while the renovation of the temporary waste disposal site is expected to take 60 working days.
She revealed that this redevelopment continues the expansion of the Sentiong Riverbank area, which was previously equipped with interactive parks, community meeting halls, and sports facilities.
According to Citra, the presence of these facilities is expected to improve environmental quality while providing spaces that can be utilised by the community.
She also urged residents to help maintain public facilities once the redevelopment is complete.
“Once the arrangement is finished, we invite the residents of Jalan Kramat Lontar XIV Buntu to care for the public facilities that have been built,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Head of RW 01 Paseban, Junaedi, stated that the park redevelopment was an aspiration expressed by residents to continue the Sentiong Riverbank area improvements.
He explained that several facilities in the area, such as interactive parks, community halls, and sports fields, were built around 2023.
However, the area’s development had temporarily ceased, prompting residents to propose the continuation of the project through community deliberations (rembuk RW).
“We would like to express our gratitude to the Central Jakarta City Government for responding to the aspirations of the Paseban RW 01 residents,” said Junaedi.
