Sentencing Hearing in Ammar Zoni Drug Trafficking Case at Salemba Detention Centre Held Today
Jakarta, Kompas.com — The sentencing hearing in the alleged drug trafficking case at Rumah Tahanan (Rutan) Salemba with defendant Ammar Zoni and others proceeded to the prosecution’s sentencing remarks on Thursday (12 March 2026).
Ammar Zoni’s legal counsel, Jon Matias, stated that the sentencing remarks were scheduled for 10:00 WIB at the Jakarta Central District Court (PN) in Sawah Besar.
“Correct. The hearing is at 10:00 WIB with the agenda of the public prosecutor’s (JPU) sentencing remarks,” said Jon Matias when confirmed by Kompas.com on Thursday.
Meanwhile, when separately confirmed, the Spokesperson for PN Jakarta Pusat, Sunoto, affirmed that the sentencing remarks for the Ammar Zoni case were being held on Thursday.
“That’s the information (being presented today),” said Sunoto via short message on Thursday morning.
In addition to Ammar Zoni, sentencing remarks will also be delivered for five other defendants in the same case, namely: Defendant I Asep bin Sarikin, Defendant II Ardian Prasetyo bin Arie Ardih, Defendant III Andi Muallim alias Koh Andi, Defendant IV Ade Candra Maulana, and Defendant V Muhammad Rivaldi.
Previously, the last hearing in the Ammar Zoni case was held on Thursday (26 February 2026) with the agenda of examining a witness in the defendant’s favour. However, the witness could not attend, so the hearing schedule proceeded to the sentencing remarks originally scheduled for 13 March 2026.
The charges reveal a conspiracy amongst the defendants to distribute methamphetamine, cannabis, and ecstasy, which exposes them to severe punishment.
“Committing or conspiring to unlawfully offer for sale, sell, purchase, receive, act as intermediary in the sale of, exchange, or deliver Class I narcotics,” the prosecution stated when reading the charges.
The prosecution also revealed that Ammar received 100 grammes of methamphetamine from someone named Andre (a fugitive) in December 2024. Of that amount, 50 grammes were handed over to defendant Muhammad Rivaldi for distribution within the detention centre.
For their actions, Ammar Zoni and his associates are charged under multiple criminal provisions.
