Sentencing Hearing in Alleged Incitement Case Against Delpedro et al. Scheduled for Tomorrow
A sentencing hearing with the reading of criminal charges in the alleged incitement case for the defendants—Delpedro Marhaen (Director of Lokataru Foundation), Muzaffar Salim (Lokataru Foundation staff), Syahdan Husein (administrator of @gejayanmemanggil), and Khariq Anhar (Riau University student)—is scheduled for Friday, 27 February 2026.
“The hearing will resume on Friday (charges hearing) on 27 February 2026, for the defendants to attend proceedings,” stated Harika Nova Yeri, presiding judge of the panel at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday (26/2).
In several hearings held this week, the defence has presented numerous witnesses, experts, and mitigating witnesses.
The defendants, with the exception of Khariq Anhar, are currently subject to electronic monitoring through ankle bracelets fitted around their legs whilst under city detention.
Delpedro previously stated that he is not bothered by the device. He has taken a positive view of his status as a city detainee.
“Regarding the use of the ankle bracelet itself, to date the device has not interfered with daily activities because of its water-resistant nature, so it remains safe to use whilst bathing or swimming,” he said following the hearing on Wednesday (18/2).
“The prosecution has facilitated the use of this device very well as an alternative to physical detention,” he added.
Delpedro Marhaen, Muzaffar Salim, Syahdan Husein, and Khariq Anhar are accused in an alleged incitement case related to demonstrations in August last year that resulted in civil unrest.
However, charges relating to hate speech offences in the August incident were dismissed because they did not meet the formal and material requirements of the indictment.
