Sentencing Hearing for Nine Crude Oil Defendants Set for Thursday
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The sentencing hearing for the nine defendants in the alleged corruption case involving the management of crude oil and refinery products during the 2018–2023 period is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 26 February.
“Regarding the verdict, we will postpone it to Thursday, 26 February 2026, at 13:00 WIB,” said presiding judge Fajar Kusuma Aji during the reading of the rebuttal at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court on Tuesday.
The nine defendants are Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, the beneficial owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa; Agus Purwono, Vice President of Feedstock Management at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) for 2023–2024; Yoki Firnandi, Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping for 2022–2024; Gading Ramadhan Juedo, Commissioner of PT Pelayaran Mahameru Kencana Abadi (PMKA); and Dimas Werhaspati, Commissioner of PT Jenggala Maritim Nusantara (JMN).
Other defendants in the same trial include Riva Siahaan, Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga in 2023; Maya Kusuma, Director of Marketing and Trading at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga in 2023; Edward Corne, Vice President of Trading at Produk Pertamina Patra Niaga for 2023–2025; and Sani Dinar Saifudin, Director of Feedstock and Product Optimization at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) for 2022–2025.
The presiding judge emphasised that the defendants, their legal counsel, or anyone else should not attempt to influence the panel of judges.
Therefore, it was stressed that no one should try to approach or influence the judges in an improper manner.
“So, if anyone claims to be acting on behalf of the judges, it is not true. Please report it immediately if anyone claims to be acting on behalf of the judges to help in any way,” he said.
In this case, the nine defendants are alleged to have committed or participated in unlawful acts to enrich themselves, others, or a corporation, causing losses to the state amounting to Rp285.18 trillion.
The state’s losses include financial losses of 2.73 billion US dollars and Rp25.44 trillion; economic losses of Rp171.99 trillion; and illegal profits of 2.62 billion US dollars.
Specifically, the state’s financial losses consist of 5.74 billion US dollars in the procurement of imported refinery products or fuel, and Rp2.54 trillion in the sale of non-subsidised diesel during the 2021-2023 period.
Meanwhile, the state’s economic losses are due to the high prices of fuel procurement, which have an impact on the economic burden caused by these prices.
The illegal profits were obtained from the difference between the price of imported fuel exceeding the quota and the price of crude oil and fuel purchased domestically.
For their actions, the nine defendants are charged with violating Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
