The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) has asserted that Moch Subchi Azal Tsani (MSAT), also known as Bechi, a former inmate involved in a sexual violence case at the Shiddiqiyyah Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, has been granted parole in accordance with statutory provisions. The Head of the Public Communication Working Group of Ditjenpas, Budi Waskito, stated that Bechi received parole on 20 August 2025.

This release is based on the Decree of the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Affairs Number PAS-1429.PK.05.03 of 2025, dated 15 August 20ss. “His status is parole, not an absolute release. Parole is granted based on the provisions of laws and regulations and the requirements that must be met by inmates,” said Budi when confirmed in Jakarta on Monday (21/9/2026).

Bechi was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Surabaya District Court in 2022 for the case of sexual violence against a student. Bechi’s release has drawn media scrutiny due to the receipt of remission and the impression that the process was being concealed.

Budi emphasised that the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Affairs does not provide special treatment to Bechi during his imprisonment. “Every inmate who meets the requirements of the integration programme is processed according to the applicable regulations,” Budi asserted.
