Jakarta – Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, beneficial owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak, intends to lodge an appeal against the sentence handed down by the judges of the Jakarta Tipikor (Corruption) Court regarding alleged corruption in crude oil and refinery product management at PT Pertamina (Persero).

The judicial panel has imposed a 15-year prison sentence and a Rp 1 billion fine with an alternative 190-day detention term, as well as ordering restitution of Rp 2.9 trillion with a five-year alternative prison term.

“God willing, I will file an appeal,” said Kerry Riza following the verdict reading session at Jakarta Tipikor Court on Friday, 27 February 2026.

Riza pledged he would continue pursuing justice regarding the case against him.

“I will continue to seek justice,” he said.

Riza expressed confusion over the judicial panel’s verdict, claiming numerous trial facts had not been factored into their reasoning.

“I am also confused by the decision because many trial facts were not included in the judges’ reasoning,” he noted.

Consequently, Riza confirmed he would pursue all legal remedies, including filing an appeal.

“Yes, God willing I will continue pursuing legal avenues, and I hope I will obtain justice elsewhere,” he said.

On this occasion, Riza responded to the court’s ruling regarding PT OTM’s fuel terminal, which has been forfeited to the state. In its verdict, the court declared that PT OTM’s assets—comprising two parcels of land measuring 31,921 square metres and 190,684 square metres respectively, together with buildings and chattels of economic value situated thereon—have been seized by the state.

Riza expressed confusion over this ruling, particularly since the terminal continues to be utilised by Pertamina.

“I am confused—it is still in use to this day,” he said.

Meanwhile, Riza’s legal adviser, Patra M Zen, contested the court’s verdict against his client. Notably, the judges’ reasoning incorporated an assertion regarding businessman Muhammad Riza Chalid’s involvement through Irawan Prakoso in arranging the rental of PT OTM’s fuel terminal. However, throughout the trial proceedings, no evidence was presented to substantiate this allegation.

“Irawan Prakoso was not presented in this trial, nor was MRC (Muhammad Riza Chalid). So where does this allegation come from? From the ceiling? From the roof? From the tiles? That is the first point. So there are assertions in the legal reasoning that are not supported by evidence,” he said.
