The Deputy Minister of State Secretariat, Juri Ardiantoro, visited the evacuation site for victims of the fire in the Kemayoran Gempol area, Pasar Jiung, Central Jakarta. Juri stated that he was sent by President Prabowo Subiability to deliver aid and personally assess the condition of the residents affected by the blaze.

“I was requested by the President to visit the site of the fire disaster in Kemayoran to convey, on behalf of the government, our condolences and concern for the tragedy experienced by the residents of Kemayoran,” Juri said at the evacuation site in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (2/6/2026).

Juri noted that at least 354 households were affected by the fire that occurred on Monday (1/6) night. He emphasised that the government aims to ensure the needs of the affected residents are met. According to him, President Prabowo also entrusted specific aid for the fire victims, which was provided in the form of Rp 5 million in cash and packages of basic food supplies (sembako).

In addition to delivering aid, Juri stated that the government is considering long-term solutions for the residents living in the area. He noted that the government wants to ensure residents can occupy decent housing that is not vulnerable to fire disasters. “We are not only looking at the fire itself, but we must think about the future of these residents. The government understands that citizens must live in proper, good housing that is not prone to disasters like this,” he expressed.

Juri continued that the government will coordinate with the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Ministry of Housing to find the best solution, including the possibility of constructing low-cost flats (rusun) or other area redevelopment schemes.

During the visit, Juri also contacted PLN (the state electricity company) after receiving reports that the evacuation site was still relying on generators for lighting. He stated that PLN would immediately follow up on the electricity needs for the evacuees. “There was information from the Sub-district Head that they are still using generators for lighting and require a connection from PLN. I communicated with the President Director, and he said it would be immediately addressed to connect the PLN power lines to the evacuation area,” he said.

Juri reaffirmed President Prabowo’s message to the victims to remain resilient in facing the disaster, asserting that the government is present to assist those affected. It is reported that the fire in the Kebon Kosong area affected hundreds of buildings. Based on preliminary data from the Jakarta Provincial Government, 304 buildings were impacted, affecting a total of 354 households or 679 individuals.
