Senior TVRI Broadcaster Teddy Resmi Sari Passes Away at 90

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Senior Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) broadcaster Teddy Resmi Sari passed away early Monday at her residence in South Tangerang at the age of 90. Teddy was one of the broadcasters who joined during TVRI’s early years and was widely known to the public for programmes such as ‘Cerdas Cermat’ for children and ‘Panorama Remaja’, which were popular in the 1970s. The third daughter of literary figure Sanusi Pane began her career in broadcasting as a presenter for Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) before moving to TVRI. In addition to being a newsreader, she was also known as a producer and scriptwriter for television programmes. Her child, Audy Mirza Alwi, said her mother was a figure with high dedication to both her work and family. According to Audy, a former photo editor at the ANTARA National News Agency who is now retired, Teddy’s busy schedule in broadcasting did not diminish her attention to her children’s education. ‘Despite that, Alhamdulillah, we children were able to complete our education and start families,’ she said. Audy also noted that until her later years, Teddy continued to follow developments in national communications and broadcasting. In recent years, the deceased had been living with her youngest daughter in South Tangerang. Teddy is survived by two daughters and two sons, all of whom are married. Her body was laid to rest at the Kampung Tipar Islamic Cemetery, RW 07, Cimanggis, Depok. The figure affectionately known as ‘Kak Teddy’ is remembered as part of the early generation of radio and television broadcasters who helped shape Indonesia’s broadcasting landscape.
