Senen Market Visitor Numbers Surge as Shoppers Hunt for Branded Second-Hand Clothing for Eid

Jakarta — Aside from used undergarments, other types of second-hand clothing have begun attracting buyers at Senen Market. Based on monitoring by CNBC Indonesia on Monday, 9 March 2026, the used clothing hub at Senen Market began drawing crowds around 11:30 WIB. Initially, the busiest section was the used undergarment shop located near the escalator.

However, shops selling regular used t-shirts have also begun experiencing increased foot traffic. These shops attract visitors by offering affordable unit prices of 35,000 rupiah. At this price point, customers can purchase branded t-shirts such as Uniqlo, H&M, Adidas, Nevada and others.

Beyond this, shops selling used trousers and various types of used women’s shirts have also begun to see increased visitors. Nano, a shop assistant at LJ store, revealed that used t-shirts are being purchased rapidly.

“Yes, it has already started to get busy. Actually, it began getting busy from last Friday, but today it’s even busier,” Nano told CNBC Indonesia on Monday, 9 March 2026.

He even predicted that visitor numbers would increase as Eid approached.

“Usually around a week before Eid, it becomes overwhelming. Hopefully it will be like that again,” he added.

The increased foot traffic has resulted in a 20 per cent rise in t-shirt sales.

“It’s quite good, there’s already been an increase in sales, although it’s still only 20 per cent,” he said.

Similarly, Rendi, a trousers vendor, has also begun experiencing the effects of increased customer traffic.

“Thank God, it’s been quite good already, there’s about a 10 per cent increase,” said Rendi.

In his shop, used trousers are priced at 35,000 rupiah for all types.

“35,000 rupiah for one pair of trousers, any type,” he said.
