Senegal PM: The West Wants to Forcibly Impose Homosexuality on the World
Senegal’s Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko has condemned Western ‘tyranny’ for attempting to impose homosexuality. Sonko rejected any attempt to halt the application of a new law tightening penalties for same-sex relations. According to AFP, on Friday (22 May 2026), the issue of LGBTQ has sparked controversy in Muslim-majority Senegal in recent years, and gay rights advocacy has often been criticised as a tool used by the West to impose foreign values. At the end of March, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye signed a law that doubles the maximum penalty for same-sex relations. Dozens of arrests have been made under the law.
