Senator Komeng Supports Prabowo's Free Lunch Programme, Urges Better Implementation

Speaking at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026), Komeng highlighted weaknesses in the programme’s field implementation. He argued that the quality of the programmes often declines due to the suboptimal performance of the executors. “Actually, all of the President’s programmes are good, it’s just that the people doing the work are not doing it properly. So, hopefully, the current ones will be better,” Komeng told the media. The senator emphasised that priority programmes such as the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) and the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives have real potential benefits for the people. However, he stressed the importance of transparent and accountable governance to ensure the noble objectives of these programmes are truly achieved at the grassroots level. In addition to highlighting the seriousness of the work, the West Java senator also cracked his signature joke when discussing the effectiveness of the government programmes. “Because MBG is good, Kopdes is also good, especially Komeng,” he quipped, concluding his statement on political support for the national strategic policies. The support from the DPD member serves as a positive signal for the government in running the MBG programme, while also acting as a reminder for relevant ministries and agencies to ensure that execution on the ground proceeds according to plan without any irregularities.
