Senator Komeng Supports Free Nutritious Meals Programme, Criticises Field Execution

Member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Alfiansyah Bustami, popularly known as Komeng, has expressed his support for the government’s strategic programmes, including the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) initiative. Komeng believes the direction and concept of President Prabowo Subianto’s programmes are fundamentally good for the people, but he offered a critical note on their implementation. Speaking at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8), Komeng highlighted weaknesses in the field execution of the programmes. According to him, the quality of the programmes often declines due to the suboptimal performance of the implementers. ‘Actually, all of the President’s programmes are good, it’s just that the people doing the work are not doing it properly. So, hopefully, things will be better now,’ Komeng told the media. The senator from West Java emphasised that priority programmes such as the Free Nutritious Meals and the Kopdes Merah Putih village cooperatives have real potential to benefit the people. However, he stressed the importance of transparent and accountable governance to ensure that the noble objectives of these programmes are truly achieved at the grassroots level. In addition to highlighting the need for serious work, Komeng also cracked his signature joke when discussing the effectiveness of the government programmes. ‘Because MBG is good, Kopdes is also good, especially Komeng,’ he quipped, concluding his statement on political support for national strategic policies. The DPD member’s support serves as a positive signal for the government in running the MBG programme, while also serving as a reminder for ministries and agencies to ensure that field execution proceeds according to plan without any irregularities.
