REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA— Senator from East Nusa Tenggara, Angelo Wake Kako, is pushing for the acceleration of artificial insemination (IB) programmes as a key strategy towards self-sufficiency in meat and dairy, particularly in NTT. This effort is packaged in a movement titled “Senator Inseminator”, which is now being implemented directly among the community. Angelo, who also serves as Deputy Chair of Committee II of the DPD RI, directly participated in the Real Action for Revitalisation of Vocational Education and Vocational Training (PVPV) 2026 event organised by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture in Bale Gede Pakuan, Bandung, on Wednesday (22/4/2026). This activity is part of strengthening human resources in the livestock sector to make them more competent and job-ready. “The livestock sector is Indonesia’s future. If we are serious, it is not impossible for Indonesia to become a new giant in this field,” said Angelo in his statement in Jakarta on Friday (24/4/2026). According to him, artificial insemination is a strategic instrument for quickly and measurably increasing livestock productivity. This programme, he said, is also in line with the major agenda of the Prabowo Subianto administration in promoting the “white revolution”, namely the national target for self-sufficiency in meat and dairy. As a form of concrete contribution, Angelo claims to have begun implementing the artificial insemination programme in East Nusa Tenggara.
