SEMMI: Riau Regional Police's Red and White Expedition Proves Police Presence in Frontier Regions

The Executive Board of the Indonesian Muslim Students Union (PB SEMMI) has expressed its appreciation for the Riau Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Herry Heryawan, following the launch of the 2026 Red and White Precision Expedition in Riau.

In a statement released in Jakarta, PB SEMMI Chairman Achmad Donny noted that the activity serves as a tangible implementation of the ‘Presisi’ Polri spirit, as directed by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. He highlighted that the expedition embodies President Prabowo Subianto’s emphasis on ensuring the state’s presence in remote areas, strengthening national unity, and promoting development that reaches the most disadvantaged communities.

Donny attended the deployment ceremony for eight expedition teams, which are tasked with reaching 17 frontier, outermost, and least developed (3T) areas across Riau Province from 1–17 August 2026, in celebration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

“PB SEMMI offers its highest appreciation to Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan. Through the Red and White Precision Expedition, he has proven that the police are truly present even in Indonesia’s most forward islands, engaging with the community, listening to their aspirations, and bringing the spirit of nationalism to the nation’s borders,” said Donny.

He emphasised that the expedition aligns with President Prabowo’s vision regarding the strengthening of national sovereignty and the equitable distribution of development. He added that the initiative reflects a humanist and visionary leadership style that prioritises coastal and island communities which often require greater state attention.

The 17-day expedition, themed “Weaving Togetherness, Maintaining Sustainability,” includes various agendas such as social service, national education, public services, the distribution of national flags, environmental activities, and the empowerment of coastal communities. PB SEMMI expressed hope that this programme could serve as a model for national movements to strengthen social resilience in border regions and foster national pride among the younger generation.
