Seminar to talk access to info

JAKARTA: The National Information Institute (LIN) and a coalition of 28 non-governmental organizations are organizing an international seminar on the public's right to information.

LIN director Asep Syaefuddin said during a press conference here on Friday that the seminar, scheduled for April 22, was aimed at highlighting the importance of access to information.

"We want to convince decision makers of the importance of public access to information," Asep said.

According to Asep, President Megawati Soekarnoputri is scheduled to open the seminar at the State Palace. Scholars from Sweden, Australia, Thailand, Japan and Korea are expected to participate. -- JP
