Seminar on diabetes

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Diabetes Association held a one-
day discussion on ways to treat diabetes, at the Koja Hospital in
North Jakarta on Friday.

The meeting, which was attended by 250 general practitioners
from public health centers in the North Jakarta mayoralty, was
aimed mainly at improving doctors' knowledge in handling diabetes
patients.

"The meeting was to disseminate knowledge on diabetes, which
used to be a field only specialists knew, to public
practitioners," Lydiana G., co-chairperson of the organizing
committee, was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying.

The meeting featured six diabetes experts as speakers -- Mardi
Santoso, Sidartarwan Soegondo, Slamet Suyono, Utoyo Sukaton,
Lindarsih Notowidjojo and Lilie Herawati. (hhr)
