Seminar on British studies

JAKARTA: Rector of Semarang's University of Diponegoro Muladi is scheduled to open a seminar on the Teaching of British Studies in Indonesia in Bandungan, Central Java, today.

The four-day seminar, organized by British Council Indonesia in conjunction with the university, will take place at Hotel Nugraha Wisata in Bandungan.

Lecturers from state and private universities throughout the country are expected to attend the seminar to find out more about the concept of British studies and explore the possibility of introducing courses in an Indonesian context.

The seminar will be led by British specialist Susan Bassnett from the University of Warwick and Edmund Sihui Mao from the University of Hong Kong, an expert on the application of British Studies program in an Asian context. There will also be contributions from Indonesian academics with an interest in the area of study. (sim)
