Seminar on Bahasa Indonesia
BOGOR: A two-day seminar on Bahasa Indonesia and Malay language and literature is scheduled to take place in Bogor from Sept. 14, the chairman of the seminar organizing committee said here on Wednesday.
Ade S. Natawiria said that the seminar, organized by the Bogor-based University of Pakuan in cooperation with the Kuala Lumpur's Language and Literature (Dewan Pustaka dan Bahasa-DPB) and Malaysia's National Writers Association (Gapena), would be significant in proving to the world that the recent tension between Indonesian and Malaysia had not affected educational and academic matters.
He said that the seminar had long been planned. "We got the idea when the cooperation deal between the University of Pakuan and DPB and Gapena was signed on April 6 this year."
According to Ade, the organizing committee had planned to ask President Megawati Soekarnoputri to open the seminar and Vice President Hamzah Haz to close it.
"But as the President will still be abroad, the Vice President is scheduled to open the seminar and West Java Governor R. Nuriana is slated to close it," he said. -- Antara
