Semesta School has once again organised its annual social initiative titled Semesta Berbagi Iftar & Sembako (Semesta Share Iftar & Groceries) to welcome Ramadan 1447 Hijriyah. Through this programme, 2,120 iftar packages and 500 food parcels were successfully collected and distributed to vulnerable communities in the Semarang region and surrounding areas.

The sharing programme involved broad participation from students, parents, teachers, and the entire school community. Assistance was channelled to eight orphanages, refugees affected by land displacement in the Jangli area, and one community school. The activity was also implemented through collaboration with Semarang City’s Social Services Department to ensure aid reached those in need effectively.

Siswo, the activity’s committee chair, stated that the initiative is part of character education instilled in students.

“Ramadan is an excellent opportunity to cultivate empathy and social responsibility in students. We want children to learn that success is measured not only by academic achievement but also by the ability to share and benefit others,” he said.

According to him, student involvement in the activity is not merely symbolic. Students participated in the entire donation-gathering process, package preparation, and distribution of aid to various recipient locations.

“The school community’s enthusiasm has been very high. This demonstrates that a spirit of sharing has become embedded in our school culture,” he stated.

As an educational institution, Semesta School is recognised for developing an educational approach that focuses not only on academics but also on character formation and student leadership. The school provides education from pre-school, kindergarten, primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary levels, and is part of a school network implementing an international curriculum through its partnership with Cambridge Assessment International Education.

Beyond social activities, the school operates a student support programme known as the Semesta Guidance Programme. This programme provides comprehensive guidance to students, ranging from character development and academic planning to preparation for tertiary studies domestically and abroad.

Through initiatives such as Semesta Berbagi, the school aims to ensure values of social responsibility are deeply instilled in students.

“We want education to produce not only academically excellent students but also a generation with social responsibility and the ability to contribute positively to society,” Siswo said.

The Semesta Berbagi activity is expected to continue as an annual tradition strengthening the spirit of solidarity whilst teaching young people the importance of sharing with others, particularly during Ramadan.
