Semen Merah Putih Boosts Innovation to Expand Global Market Reach
Jakarta, VIVA – Cemindo Gemilang (CMNT) through its Semen Merah Putih brand is introducing a different approach by emphasising the importance of an integrated business system based on sustainability amid ongoing pressures facing the national and global cement industry. This system not only contributes to emission reductions but also drives operational efficiency and business growth.
This approach was in the spotlight during the company’s participation in the INTERCEM Asia 2026 event held in Jakarta until Thursday (16/4/2026). The forum is strategically valuable as it brings together global cement industry players, from producers and traders to investors.
“In the midst of an industry full of pressures, we see that the key to competitiveness is not just scale, but how efficient the system we build is. At Semen Merah Putih, sustainability is not merely an environmental commitment, but the foundation for improving operational efficiency and strengthening business competitiveness,” said Surindro Kalbu Adi, Commercial & Logistics Director of PT Cemindo Gemilang Tbk, quoted from his statement on Wednesday, 29 April 2026.
In the global context, Semen Merah Putih is also continuing to expand its international market reach through an export network covering the Asia Pacific region, Oceania, to Africa and the Americas. Supported by its Aastar trading business unit, the company is strengthening global distribution of cement and clinker products, both in bulk and packaged forms, with flexibility tailored to market needs.
Cement industry stakeholders are currently facing significant structural business pressures. The national production utilisation rate is recorded at only around 51% due to overcapacity conditions, while demand has declined by about 2–2.5% in 2025. This situation is also influenced by the slowdown in infrastructure projects and economic dynamics that have not fully recovered.
However, amid this situation, Semen Merah Putih has recorded positive performance with 4.2% growth in its main operational areas in 2025. This achievement reflects the relevance of the company’s business model focused on efficiency and system integration.
Furthermore, according to him, unlike the conventional approach that views sustainability as an obligation, Semen Merah Putih positions it as the main driver of efficiency. The company has recorded a reduction in carbon intensity of up to around 21% since 2016, which goes hand in hand with improved energy efficiency and production process optimisation.
