Semen Kupang's expansion

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara (JP): The East Nusa Tenggara-based state-owned cement company, PT Semen Kupang, will expand its annual production capacity from 180,000 tons to 800,000 tons by 1998, the company's president, M. Satar Taba, said.

"We will soon build the second unit of our plant to support our expansion program," Satar told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.

Semen Kupang will gradually increase its capacity to 270,000 tons next year, he added. He would not provide further details about the investment project.

Satar said his company booked a pre-tax profit of Rp 6.7 billion (US$2.91 million) from the sale of 165,524 tons of cement last year. (yac/04)
