Semen Indonesia Taps Urban Renovation and Housing Opportunities
PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) is pursuing growth opportunities in housing construction and renovation within densely populated urban areas by strengthening its small-scale ready-mix concrete services. SIG Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni stated that the demand for residential construction, home renovations, and property development in urban areas opens new business opportunities for the company in the building materials retail segment. “As a major player in the building materials industry, SIG continues to deliver innovative solutions to meet increasingly diverse construction needs,” Vita said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Sunday. She noted that the growth of urban buffer zones, the need for new housing, and the trend of renovating existing properties are driving increased demand for small and medium-scale ready-mix concrete. Through its business unit PT Solusi Bangun Beton, SIG has developed the MiniMix service, a fleet of small delivery trucks designed to reach densely populated residential areas with limited road access that conventional mixer trucks cannot navigate. The delivery fleet has dimensions of 2.2 meters wide, 3.2 meters high, and 6.4 meters long. Vita said the service enables ready-mix concrete to reach housing construction and renovation projects in urban areas that require efficiency and practicality. Currently, PT Solusi Bangun Beton operates 42 fleets serving Jakarta, Bandung, Cianjur, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and surrounding areas. The service’s operations are supported by 30 batching plants spread across Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, and East Java. The company is optimistic that the service can reach more customers while sustainably optimising business growth opportunities in ready-mix concrete. Previously, SIG recorded a 380 percent net profit growth to Rp46 billion from Rp10 billion in the same period the previous year. Cumulatively, up to May 2026 (year-to-date), the company posted a net profit of Rp152 billion after recording a loss in the same period last year. This performance improvement is linked to the business model transformation undertaken by the company, including operational efficiency, business process optimisation, strengthening of company fundamentals, and increased profitability and competitiveness.
