Semen Gresik sales fall 4.7%

JAKARTA: PT Semen Gresik, Indonesia's largest cement producer, said Tuesday its cement sales in the first nine months fell 4.7 percent to 11.013 million metric tons from 11.561 million tons in the same period last year.

The fall was due to a decline in its export volume in the nine months, Gresik said in a statement.

Exports slipped 34 percent to 2.11 million tons from 3.195 million tons in the year-ago nine months, while domestic sales rose 6.4 percent to 8.899 million tons from 8.366 million tons last year.

According to data from the National Cement Association, countrywide cement output in the first nine months rose 8.4 percent to 20.26 million tons from 18.700 million tons in the same period last year. -- Dow Jones
