Semen Baturaja Targets Lampung Infrastructure Projects to Boost Market Share
PT Semen Baturaja (Persero) Tbk (SMBR) sees substantial opportunities from the surge in cement demand in Lampung Province, projected to reach 375,000 tonnes, driven by extensive infrastructure projects valued at trillions of rupiah. The increase in cement demand is also propelled by various infrastructure initiatives, including road construction, the Sekolah Rakyat programme, and government projects funded by the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) and Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD). Additionally, the trend of shifting construction from asphalt to concrete strengthens the prospects for cement consumption in the region. Independent Commissioner of SMBR, Feryzal Adham, stated that Lampung is one of the strategic regions with significant infrastructure growth potential, serving as a focus for the company’s market development. In terms of value, the potential infrastructure projects in Lampung are estimated to reach trillions of rupiah. From this total, cement needs are estimated at 30 to 33 per cent, particularly for concrete-based road projects. Furthermore, SMBR has identified strategic projects with significant value, including the Presidential Instruction for Regional Roads (IJD) programme, estimated at Rp 1.3 trillion. Meanwhile, projects at the regency/city level have potential approaching Rp 2 trillion. In line with these opportunities, SMBR affirms its readiness in production, distribution, and logistics networks to ensure smooth and timely cement supply. Meanwhile, Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal welcomed the synergy built with SMBR. He assessed that the presence of the national cement industry plays an important role in accelerating regional infrastructure development. “We appreciate SMBR’s steps in establishing cooperation with the regional government. This synergy is expected to provide tangible contributions to accelerating development and enhancing the regional economy,” he said.
