Sembawang wins $33m deal
SINGAPORE (Reuters): Singapore's Sembawang Engineering and Construction (SembEC) said yesterday it had won a US$33 million contract to build a hydrogen peroxide plant in Aceh, Indonesia.
SembEC, the engineering and construction arm of Sembawang Corp, said in a statement the contract was signed in collaboration with Swedish Chematur Engineering AB and Indonesian PT Asean Aceh Fertilizer (AAF).
AAF is a maker of urea fertilizer jointly owned by the governments of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
The new plant, scheduled to begin production in 1999, will have a capacity of 10,000 metric tons per year in 100 percent concentrate and will be built on a one hectare lot besides AAF's existing fertilizer plant, the statement said.
It said SembEC would build the plant and be responsible for the utilities engineering and as well as the supply of miscellaneous equipment.
About 60 percent of the plant's output would be for export and the rest for the Indonesian domestic market, the statement said.
