Semasa Piknik 2026 Blends Creativity, Culinary Delights, and Environmental Action
The Semasa Piknik 2026 festival, held from 26-28 June at Taman Lapangan Banteng, Jakarta, showcased a blend of creativity, culinary experiences, and environmental awareness. Now in its tenth year, the event brought together hundreds of tenants from the creative and culinary sectors, offering a recreational space for urban communities, particularly young people and families. Beyond a marketplace, the festival facilitated networking and collaboration among creative industry players and MSMEs. One participant introduced an interactive ‘Rumah’ (Home) concept, combining culinary experiences, creativity, MSME empowerment, and a sustainable waste management campaign. Fierman Authar, Head of Consumer Engagement Marketing at PT Indofood Suksa Makmur Tbk, stated that the festival provided an opportunity to build more personal and engaging interactions with the public while supporting local creativity and promoting sustainability. The festival featured picnic areas, interactive games, special product bundles, and collaborative merchandise, alongside a walking tour exploring the historic Lapangan Banteng area. It also served as a promotional platform for MSMEs, offering market access to tens of thousands of visitors and providing training and workshops to improve product quality and business adaptability. A key focus was sustainability, with a circular economy waste management system implemented in partnership with Rekosistem. Multiple collection points were set up across the venue, with waste sorted and sent to recycling partners. Joshua Valentino, Chief Operating Officer of Rekosistem, expressed hope that the responsible waste management practices at the festival would serve as a model for large-scale events.
