Semarang's Kamisan Action Crowd Urges Andrie Yunus Case to Be Handled by General Court
Semarang’s Kamisan action crowd called for the acid attack case against KontraS deputy coordinator Andrie Yunus to be processed through the general court. They conveyed this during a demonstration in front of the Central Java Governor’s Office on Thursday evening (2/4/2026).
Dozens of Kamisan Semarang participants began their action around 5:00 PM WIB. Despite heavy rain, they continued to voice their demands regarding the handling of the Andrie Yunus case.
“Today we are bringing several demands; the main one we are bringing forward is our continued solidarity for Andrie Yunus. Second, we condemn and denounce all forms of violence against activists. Third, we urge that the perpetrators be brought to the general court,” said Kamisan Semarang participant Aldo (22 years old) when interviewed at the location.
According to Aldo, the acid attack on Andrie Yunus represents a real threat to democratic life. “We also hope that friends can stand in solidarity with each other, strengthen one another, and not fear any form of violence,” he said.
He also commented on the police’s decision to refer the Andrie Yunus case to the TNI. Aldo expressed his objection if the case were to be fully handled by the military. “We still demand that this process be carried out in the general court,” he said.
“Because we don’t know what the military justice system is like; it might be more closed or something,” Aldo added.
Aldo revealed that the Kamisan action held in front of the Central Java Governor’s Office on Thursday evening was attended by between 20-30 people. “Even though it’s raining, we still try to show solidarity for Andrie Yunus,” he said.
