Semarang Zoo offers free entry for students to welcome school holidays
Semarang Zoo has announced that it will waive entrance fees for students as part of a programme titled ‘Student Appreciation Free Promo’ to welcome the school holidays. The Director of Semarang Zoo, Bimo Wahyu Widodo, stated in Semarang on Friday that this special programme is intended to mark the long holiday period following the end of the 2025/2026 academic year. The programme serves as a form of recognition for students’ academic achievements while providing an educational, affordable, and enjoyable holiday alternative for families in Central Java and surrounding areas.
Through this programme, the zoo, which is owned by the Semarang City Government, will provide free entry for all students across various educational levels, ranging from early childhood education (PAUD) to senior high school (SMA) and its equivalents. ‘This policy is expected to encourage the interest of the younger generation to engage more closely with the world of animal conservation and to spend their holidays with positive outdoor activities,’ he said.
In addition to the benefits for students, Semarang Zoo is also offering special concessions for parents or guardians accompanying their children. Throughout the promotional period, the entrance fee for accompanying adults will be reduced to just Rp20,000 per person. This special pricing is designed to ensure that the post-exam family holiday period can be enjoyed by all levels of society without placing a financial burden on households.
The ‘Student Appreciation Free Promo’ will run for nearly three weeks, from 22 June to 10 July 2026. The Director urged visitors to note these dates and prepare the necessary supporting documents for their visit. ‘Documents that need to be prepared include student ID cards, report cards, or a letter of certification from the school to validate programme eligibility at the entrance gate,’ he added.
