Semarang Nutrition Office Tightens Oversight on Subsidised Product Use in 2,400 Free Meal Kitchens

The Semarang Nutrition Fulfilment Service Office (KPPG) has announced it will strictly monitor the use of government-subsidised products in Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) kitchens. The statement was made in response to an instruction from the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana.

"We have not yet found cases of SPPG using subsidised commodities such as 3-kilogram LPG canisters and Minyakita, but we will tighten supervision," said the Head of the Administrative Subdivision of KPPG Semarang, Bagus Anindito, on Tuesday (28/7/2026).

He stated that KPPG Semarang currently oversees approximately 2,400 SPPG spread across 20 regencies and cities in Central Java. According to Bagus, these SPPG have so far complied with the regulations in the MBG processing procedures, for instance, by using non-subsidised gas and cooking oil.

"Some SPPG use CNG (compressed natural gas), and the information suggests it is cheaper," Bagus said.
