The Semarang Night Carnival (SNC) has long been known as an annual event featuring a spectacular costume parade that highlights local wisdom with a modern touch.

Semarang (ANTARA) - The number of international participants for the Semarang Night Carnival (SNC) 2026 continues to increase to 28 countries from the previous data of 15 countries.

Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti in Semarang on Friday said that the presence of participants from 28 countries in SNC 2026 becomes an important momentum to strengthen cultural diplomacy, while expanding international networks.

“We want SNC not only to be a spectacle, but also a space for global collaboration that drives the local economy, empowers MSME actors, and increases tourist visits to the City of Semarang,” she said.

The 28 countries include, among others, Cambodia, Vietnam, India, England, France, the Netherlands, Japan, to representatives from Africa such as Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Libya.

This determination is an acknowledgement of the quality of the organisation as well as the attractiveness of SNC as a flagship event capable of driving the tourism and creative economy sectors.

“The inclusion of SNC in the Kalender Karisma Event Nusantara and the increasing international participation is proof that Semarang is increasingly trusted as a host for world-class events,” she said.

“This is not only a pride, but also a responsibility to continue delivering quality and impactful organisation,” she added.

With support from its status as part of KEN, the organisation of SNC 2026 is expected to be even more quality, professional, and have a direct impact on increasing tourist visits.

She is also optimistic that the increase in the number of international participants will provide multiplier effects, from hotel occupancy, MSME movements, to city promotion on the global stage.

The parade, which carries the theme “Miracle of Recycle”, will be held on Saturday (2/5) tomorrow, with the route starting from Semarang City Hall on Jalan Pemuda at 18.30 WIB.

The procession will then pass through the Tugu Muda Monument and Jalan Pandanaran until reaching the finish line at Pancasila Field, Simpang Lima.

“We invite the entire community to come and witness this harmony of creativity along the protocol roads,” she said.

Through SNC 2026, Semarang once again asserts itself as a city that is not only rich in culture, but also able to package it into a proud cultural diplomacy strength for Indonesia in the eyes of the world.
