Semarang Mayor Requests Public Understanding for Official Vehicles Operating During Eid Holiday
Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti has requested that the public be understanding should they see official vehicles from Semarang City Government continuing to operate during the Eid holiday period. She noted that a number of civil servants continue to perform public service duties during the holiday.
Agustina stated that not all civil servants take leave during Eid. Several basic service sectors, such as healthcare and emergency services, remain operational to serve the public.
“It must be understood that there are civil servants who continue to work on holidays. Even during Eid, myself and Pak Iswar (Semarang Deputy Mayor) also continue working according to schedule,” Agustina said on Tuesday (17 March 2026).
According to Agustina, the continued operation of official vehicles during the Eid holiday is not for personal benefit. She gave an example that if there is an emergency situation, including medical emergencies, experienced by residents.
“For instance, if there is an emergency situation in the field, health officers must immediately mobilise. Doctors from health centres certainly need official vehicles to reach the location quickly,” Agustina said.
Agustina hopes that the public can understand the situation and not misinterpret the presence of red-plated vehicles continuing to operate during the Eid holiday. “If you see an official vehicle on the road during the holiday, please understand that it is part of service duty. We want to ensure that the public continues to receive maximum services,” she said.
She emphasised the importance of trust in the integrity of civil servants in using state facilities. Agustina is confident that employees within Semarang City Government carry out their duties in accordance with their responsibilities.
“We trust that our civil servants use these facilities in accordance with regulations and work requirements, not for personal benefit,” she said.
Agustina also touched on a central government circular regarding the implementation of more flexible work systems, including work from anywhere (WFA). She believed that civil servant mobility is inseparable from efforts to maintain the quality of public services.
