Semarang Mayor Provides Assistance to Mugging Victim on Halmahera

Yovita Haryanto, the victim of a mugging on Jalan Halmahera, expressed gratitude and appreciation when receiving a visit from Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng at her home in Karangtempel Ward on Saturday, 11 April 2026.

During the occasion, Yovita conveyed her thanks for the attention and swift response provided by the Semarang City Government. “I would like to thank Mrs Agustina for coming here and acting quickly to resolve the issue,” she said.

She also hoped that the incident she experienced could serve as a collective lesson, particularly in strengthening a sense of security within the community. “Perhaps it can also be a lesson for us all, hopefully security improves even further. And we also get security, because there might be something afterwards that we’re afraid of,” she stated.

In addition, Yovita shared a message to women to remain confident in every life choice. “Well, whatever your choices, surely God will protect you, whether you move forward or backward, what matters is that you take responsibility for what you choose,” she added.

The mugging incident experienced by Yovita occurred in the Halmahera Street area, East Semarang, on Sunday morning, 5 April 2026. At that time, the victim became the target of a snatching action accompanied by violence using a sharp weapon, resulting in injuries that required medical treatment.

The Semarang Mayor’s visit was conducted to provide moral support as well as to ensure the victim’s condition after the incident. On that occasion, Agustina also handed over assistance in the form of basic foodstuffs and condolence money as a form of the government’s care for affected residents.

The mayor’s presence became a tangible manifestation of the Semarang City Government’s closeness to the community. It is hoped that through the attention and support given, the victim can recover quickly and the community can increasingly enhance collective concern in creating a safe and comfortable environment.
