Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng has emphasised her commitment to continuing the KH Sholeh Darat Cultural Procession throughout her leadership alongside Deputy Mayor Iswar Aminuddin. She conveyed this during her speech at the procession in Kuningan Field, North Semarang Subdistrict, on Sunday, 19 April 2026.

This year marks the second iteration of the cultural procession. Agustina stressed that the event will be a sustained agenda, not merely an annual ceremony. “This is the second procession, and we will continue to hold it while I lead Semarang City. This is not a temporary agenda, but part of the effort to nurture values and history,” she asserted.

The procession provides a space for actualising living culture within the community, while bringing back the exemplary struggles of KH Sholeh Darat as a great Islamic scholar who played a crucial role in strengthening Islamic and national values in Java.

Furthermore, Agustina highlighted that the cultural procession holds strategic significance as a form of education outside formal schooling. The values presented are not limited to mere attractions but serve as a means of learning to shape societal character.

“The cultural procession is education outside school about culture. This aligns with the mandate in the Indonesian National Anthem—build its soul, build its body. Building the soul must go hand in hand, and that spirit is found in the struggles of KH Sholeh Darat,” she continued.

According to her, city development does not focus solely on physical infrastructure but also touches on building the soul of the community. The KH Sholeh Darat Cultural Procession symbolises how spiritual values, history, and culture can be revived as the foundation of comprehensive development.

Through this event, the Semarang City Government aims to ensure that the younger generation does not become disconnected from their cultural roots. The cultural procession is seen as an effective medium for introducing local history in a contextual, engaging, and widely acceptable manner.

With consistent implementation each year, Semarang City affirms its position as a region that not only develops physically but also remains steadfast in preserving its identity, values, and ancestral heritage. Additionally, the Semarang City Government continues to support the proposal for KH Sholeh Darat to be recognised as a national hero.
