Semarang Mayor Confirms Preparations for 31st National MTQ Are Complete

Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng has confirmed that preparations for the main arena of the 31st National Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) in 2026 are complete. Pancasila Field at Simpang Lima is being prepared as the location of the main opening stage and the centre of public activities.

Agustina explained that the National MTQ is a shared celebration that must succeed. She ensured that the construction process of the arena at Simpang Lima Field was proceeding perfectly when she inspected the location on Sunday (6/9).

“This MTQ is our shared celebration. The people of Semarang are also an important part of its successful organisation,” said Agustina in a written statement on Monday (7/9/2026).

In addition, Agustina expressed hope that the arrival of delegations from across Indonesia would be an opportunity to introduce Semarang. The guests would not only compete, but would also interact with residents, enjoy local cuisine, and visit various tourist destinations.

“Those coming to Semarang will not only be participants or delegations. There will be guests from various regions with diverse backgrounds. They will see Semarang, meet our residents, enjoy our food, stay in our hotels, and visit various places in this city,” she said.

Agustina also stressed that the MTQ is expected to provide an engaging experience for guests and economic benefits for the community. For this reason, residents are invited to welcome and enliven the entire series of activities.

“This is an excellent opportunity to show the true face of Semarang. A city that is friendly, comfortable, tolerant, and open to anyone,” said Agustina.

The various competition branches of the 31st National MTQ will be held at several locations across Semarang according to the type of contest. Public activities will be centred at Pancasila Field, Simpang Lima, to ensure accessibility and broaden community participation.

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to officially open the 31st National MTQ in Semarang. The opening ceremony will be centred at Pancasila Field, Simpang Lima, on 12 September 2026.
